1968-05-10 Jimi Hendrix - Fillmore East (2nd Show) [FD Cleanup/Speed Correction]

01 - Lover Man
02 - Fire
03 - Foxy Lady
04 - Red House
05 - Hey Joe
06 - Sunshine of Your Love
07 - Hear My Train A Comin'
08 - Please Crawl Out Your Window
09 - Purple Haze
10 - Wild Thing (fragment)

Lineage ATM093 FLAC > Adobe Audition (EQ, Comp, Speed Correction) > FLAC

As this was a good quality tape, I didn't go overboard with the EQing etc, but ATM093 source had speed issues. The first three tracks are fine (Eb tuning) but Red House slows down (can be easily heard near the end of the track on raw source) - that got corrected up to Bb, but then after Red House slow down, the tape speeds up almost a semi-tone - so the songs after Red House were checked to make sure it was Eb tuning all the way. Sounds right now.

ATM093 has only a fragment of Wild Thing - I couldn't find a longer version in the "archives" - if anyone has it - would be much obliged.

Jimi Hendrix - 2+ Hour mixtape of mostly rare, obscure and tweaked material

2+ Hour mixtape of mostly rare, obscure and tweaked material by funkydrummer
This was based around material from First Rays era Hendrix - another glimpse at the fragments left by Jimi, another means of assembly, another way of listing again...
Some of the segues and edits between tracks have been thought through in advance, others I decided through Jimi's own direction - in the end I decided to make a "weird" comp - more about creating a sense of mood and new relations between tracks - there were some well known tracks left out - but I have other compilations on the boil.
So while it is a re-presentation of many First Rays tracks, it is not an attempt to reconstruct it. Hence it is a mix tape...

Many of the segues between tracks were made by using segues that Hendrix himself used.
[merges and segues between tracks not listed]

It has been saved as one big file - many players leave gaps between tracks, and this spoils the mix...so I saved as single file.

03 Lover Man
04 Hear My Train A-Comin'
05 Foxy Lady
06 Room Full of Mirrors

08 Freedom
09 Ezy Ryder
10 Machine Gun
11 Star Spangled Banner

Lineage ATM108 FLAC> Adobe Audition (NR,EQ,Comp) > FLAC

First of all this is one of the very worst AUD tapes around (overloaded mic) - so this is more academic rather than anything else - but believe me when I tell you I have actually been listening to it...

My first attempt was quite a while ago - so I am redoing some early efforts...I have tried to remove as much noise as possible, but not as much as last time...still you can hear some artifacting...but it was the only way.

This show is a good one - just hope we get to hear it in better fidelity one day.

Room Full of World Travellers [FD Mashup]

I put this together because I always wanted a more Albert Hall like version of Room Full of Mirrors...so I made my own...
I noticed that the World Traveller jam sounded like it was based on Room Full of Mirrors - after some time stretching I put together something of my vision how such a version might have gone down...There are a couple of hiccups (really bad edit at 1:48) - so for interest's sake...

Here's another - the version of Crash Landing on PH&A annoys me because of the out of sync vocals - here is a remix of previous version also timestretched to correct pitch, and solo reinserted to make a complete in sync version. I have my suspicions that this one hasn't the original drums but at least it is in time! I've always been fond of this track...

Here's another - a combination of the best two sections of Lover Man on Tonight Show

1968-12-01 Jimi Hendrix Chicago Coliseum [FD Cleanup]

01 - Intro
02 - Killing Floor
03 - I Don't Live Today
04 - Spanish Castle Magic
05 - Foxy Lady
06 - Red House
07 - Sunshine of Your Love
08 - Voodoo Child
09 - Fire
10 - Purple Haze

Lineage ATM122 FLAC> Adobe Audition (NR, EQ, Comp)> FLAC

Not a lot of room to move with this one - large venue and distant sound, but original was shrill lots of treble - this is cleaner and about as balanced as I could get it.

1969-07-10 Jimi Hendrix - The Tonight Show and Lover Man

This photo is not from The Tonight Show appearance (with guest host Flip Wilson) because sadly there is no video or images of that appearance. What we do have is the audio taped on a reel-to-reel. Jimi's amp blew during Lover Man so there is a false start and a second version, somewhat truncated.

I have cleaned up the audio a bit, removed the buzz, and as a bonus added a hybrid edit of the two versions of Lover Man.

01 - Audio of broadcast and Lover Man (stitched together from a couple of difference sources, so quality varies in spots)
02 - Lover Man [edit by FD]

Lineage: Bob Terry tape Maui Wowee FLAC > Audition (NR, EQ, Comp, Edits) > FLAC

I decided to put together a special compilation of First Rays related Maui live tracks, there have been some edits for continuity or other purposes. For example the Hey Baby intro of the 2nd Set was used to replace the AUD intro for a full SBD experience. Also made some little edits - the bum note early in Hear My Train...such a great performance I cheated a bit for the purposes of the compilation. That is why I am separating from a straight cleanup of Maui - coming soon...
